Goma Air recently announced to introduce a charter flight service from Kathmandu to Simikot as there is no direct air service from Kathmandu to Simikot. This is the main route of the Holy Mt. Kailash-MansarovarYatra which offers astounding views and great richness in culture and history.
Mount Kailash is an important highlight for all devout Hindus, Buddhists and Jainswhereas the beauty of the serene Lake Mansarovar surrounded by gently brown hills is breathtaking and awesome. Travelers generally have to fly to Simikot via Nepalgunj, the regional hub of Western Nepal.
The tour to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar begins from Simikot which is one of the remote villages of Karnali, situated in far western development region of Nepal near Tibet border. The existing runway at Simikot Airport has been fully black-topped and extended by 200ft, making the total length of the airport approximately 2000ft.
In order to provide better services to travelers, Goma Air will operate scheduled and regular flights to Simikot from Nepalgunj and Surkhet with an approximate time of one hour. Likewise, it takes about an hour to travel from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Goma Air strongly believes that these services will definitely help those who are seeking to travel Karnali region.
